Hello dear friends!

I bang on a lot about the archive of different writing workshops we are amassing here but I’ve been thinking about repetition recently. Partly this is because I’m reading Simon Barnes’s The Year of Sitting Dangerously about a year of sitting in the same place in his garden every day and recording what he saw and noticed. Perhaps given the topic, this book is surprisingly addictive, but then many of you will know that this is part of my practice too. I must admit I feel validated and a little less boring!

It can feel counterintuitive to do the same thing again and again in our creative work, surely we should always be searching out the new? But, in fact, I’ve found that doing the same exercise, following the same writing prompt, taking the same writing workshop, actually allows my mind to wander off and try something new.

So putting the two things together - dipping into the archive and the power of repetition - and adding a third - the inspiration from seeing what people are up to… here are five previous Everyday Words video workshops with a catch up on what Deb, John, Sian, Alex and Lucy are doing now.

BUT I’d also like to know who you would like to hear from over the next year. I can’t promise anything but I’d love to make sure this newsletter remains useful to you.
